Opportunity in wound dressings market

11 May 2011

A ‘revolutionary’ new thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) film-on-paper product from US company Argotec is said to offer an alternative film source for converters of frame-type wound dressing and surgical drapes.

One of the greatest challenges to successfully marketing frame dressings has been creating a film product with the correct peel release between the paper and film. Argotec says it has resolved this by using a specially coated paper, polykote 1-side, silicone coated the other, in combination with its proven ArgoMed 18411 TPU film to create ArgoMedPLUS 18411.

This new product provides a controlled release between the paper carrier (which eventually becomes the frame) and the TPU film. It can be extruded in film thicknesses ranging from 20-30 micron, in widths 1.52m, and lengths up to 532m.
