Omet’s recent launch, the X-Flex, a narrow web flexo press with a ‘straight-through’ web path, is said to provide advantages such as low waste and print stability. “The X-Flex has the shortest web path in the industry, with 1,650mm of substrate per print station and produces the lowest waste of any press on the market - only 30m of waste material on an 8 colour machine,” says the company. Additional features available on the X-Flex machine include a gearless/shaftless sleeve design, a new ink pan that requires only 0.25 litres of ink to print, a quick change gearless anilox system and the Vision-1 automatic register control system. This system adjusts both machine and lateral web directions on each print station.
