OFT Technology, the UK manufacturer of the Foiltone cold foil application, has turned to promoting its process as an energy saving measure.
Sales and marketing director John Hopkinson says: “The Carbon Footprint Supply Chain Summit in London with participants’ from Boots and Diageo, among others, discussed methods of consumer products companies examining and reducing the power consumption of their total supply chain. This will impact on the packaging industry in due time.”
He says a recent survey on the power consumption of the system measured against conventional hot foil stamping revealed the power to foil a given sheet can be reduced by as much as 75 per cent. The Foiltone unit consumes less than half the power of a hot foil stamping platen and runs at twice the speed, he says.
