13 September 2004

NPES, the US Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing and Converting Technologies, has begun a two-year term as secretariat of EUMAPRINT,(The European Committee of Printing and Paper Converting Machinery Manufacturers). Kathryn P Marx, vp, marketing and strategic planning with Flint Ink and chair of NPES and the Graphic Arts Show Co, will serve a two-year term as president of the committee, and NPES and GASC president Regis J Delmontagne is to be secretary general for the same term.

EUMAPRINT is a federation of eight national associations of printing and converting and related machinery manufacturers founded in 1957. NPES is its only non European member, and this will be the association's second term as secretariat since it became a member of the federation in 1983.

EUMAPRINT collects statistics from the member associations and co-ordinates the schedule of major international trade exhibitions organized by the member associations. Recently it has expanded its activities to include meetings with non European associations to broaden the information base about the worldwide printing and publishing industry. It has also begun meeting with the organizers of other trade exhibitions to discuss the issues of common terminology used in show catalogues, standard setback rules and similar concerns.

NPES succeeds the Swiss association SWISSMEM as secretariat. Other members are ACIMGA the Italian Manufacturers Association of Machinery for the Graphic, Converting and Paper Industry; Asociacion Grafispack (Spain); GRAFISKA LEVERANTÖSFÖRENINGEN, the Swedish Graphic Arts Suppliers Association; PICON, (UK); SCIPAG- EMBALGO (France), and VDMA, the Association of German Manufacturers of Printing & Paper Equipment and Supplies.
