Non-contact corrugated gluing systems improve manufacture

7 April 2010

Nordson has developed a ‘simpler, more flexible’ non-contact gluing system to improve production efficiency while maintaining bond quality. As with the established contact configuration, it allows for up to three guns, top-down or bottom-up gluing, and operator or drive-side installation. It also retrofits to existing contact gluing stations.

The non-contact gluing station uses reliable, high speed LA 825 RC applicators which are said to offer sharp, clean cutoff and come with silicone nozzle covers to prevent adhesive dry-out during extended downtime. Simple, quick-change brackets provide fast set-up and change-over, while the modular concept increases accessibility to components to speed up maintenance and cleaning.

There is an integrated LogiComm system pattern control and verification system, and a GD 500 sensor to monitor liquid adhesive volume. The GD 500 sensor facilitates fast set-up and changeovers with an easy-to-use LCD and keypad interface and automatic, dynamic calibration to “learn” new patterns.
