At drupa 2008, Compose System presented its latest innovations in prepress and production workflow systems as well as a wide range of new features for narrow web and digital printing applications.
The highlight at drupa was the release of FlexoFlow, a production workflow system for the flexographic and packaging market. The workflow system includes specific flexo and packaging modules such as the BoxPro - an easy-to-use box design and labelling application, hybrid screening, the Star Proof dot proofing system and Plate Controller.
The Plate Controller, a plate layout software, automates job placements, as well as step-and-repeat operations for both PDF and 1-bit ripped files. It has been updated to support multiple work styles, including sheetwise-turn, sheetwise-tumble, work-and-turn, and work-and-tumble, as well as single-sided printing.
It also supports the printing of round and triangular labels, automatic or manual interlocking of step-and-repeat operations, manual or automatic fill modes that fill just a section or the full plate area, double-burn that burns multiple jobs, specified crop and registration marks, as well as colour bars for each job, including step-and-repeat jobs.
Other key product highlights included updated releases of the company’s Express WorkFlow systems, new features in its Express RIP product range, as well as version 2 release for GapFinder, a narrow web printing application.
GapFinder print jobs against the printing cylinder and re-arranges job images on the plate so as to optimise and eliminate the press cylinder gaps. It can split job images over two simultaneous printing press towers using the
2-Plates Lock Up features. It can also add registration marks, scan marks, colour matrix marks and plate identification, as required.
The latest version of Express WorkFlow has been extended to provide JDF support.
