New plant for global food packaging market

Sun Chemical has opened its new state-of-the-art manufacturing plant for sheetfed packaging inks in Frankfurt, Germany. Representing an investment of €4 million, it was built using cleanroom and HACCP directives to ensure that the best possible standards.

The facility is said to feature the most modern mixers and mills on the market, process control computers, as well as two new blending stations. One of these is specifically used for low migration inks, the other - housed in a separate building to avoid cross-contamination - is used for conventional inks.

All raw materials are hand-inspected to ensure they contain no contaminants and have low odour, as required by strict European food regulations. Additionally, quality control officers are on-site to check product quality at all times.

The Frankfurt plant’s centrally located position in Germany provides for fast dispatch of products across Europe, ensuring delivery to key markets within two days, states Sun.
