Pira International, the provider of independent information and testing services to the packaging, paper and print industries has been acquired by the US-based Smithers Group. With headquarters in Leatherhead, UK, Pira employs approximately 120 people at five facilities in the UK and USA.
The Smithers Group, headquartered in Akron, Ohio, already includes Smithers Viscient, Smithers Pharma Services, Smithers Rapra, Smithers Quality Assessments and iSmithers. Each company provides technology-based services focused on a defined market.
