New from Nilpeter

26 September 2004

Nilpeter launched the F-Line of flexo label and packaging presses at Labelexpo Americas 2004. Three models are available in different web widths of 273, 350, and 426mm, with the option of either a conventional mechanical drive or a servo-electronic drive. A modular design is said to offer maximum versatility from any combination of printing units. Substrates can range from thin films to cartonboard. Maximum printing and die cutting speed is 228m/min.

The F-Line incorporates a new type of print station with features to reduce waste and minimize makeready times. Its Z-shaped frame design gives an open construction for ease-of-operation in mind. The optional servo drive technology is said to ensure that set-up time is kept to an absolute minimum and lower waste of expensive printing materials significantly.

The presses also benefit from Nilpeter's proven cassette based system. Operators can interchange individual flexo units with drop-in rotary screen modules and cold/hotfoil units are available, singly or in combination. Users can also specify increased capacity hot air dryers and low inertia idlers, as well as chill roll capabilities for converting films. UV flexo and UV varnish units are also available.

There is a touchscreen control panel for logical running and press programming. The optional Press Management Centre gives real-time diagnostics covering all operating functions. Operators can obtain a full analysis of press performance through an on-line internet connection, including updates in most cases. Other features include rapid adjustment of print heads and change-overs of anilox rolls to achieve fast makeready and clean-ups.

The unwind and rewind take reels up to 1,000mm in diameter to maximize production on long runs. Together with infeed modules, they are controlled by programmable electronics to maintain precise web tension. Set-ups are simplified by Nilpeter's Instant Registry Response, which allows multi direction linear adjustment register without changing web tension. The Mid-point Pacing System resets the tension between the print and die cutting stations to maintain register and reduce waste.

All models include the latest CE and NEC electronics, and their heavy duty, all-steel construction is said to ensure a high degree of stability for long service, high quality printing.
