New Alexir factory is bigger and better

26 January 2011

Following the recent loss of its Crawley production facility due to fire, Alexir Packaging will be fully operational, from the end of January, with ‘one of the most technically advanced and modern carton plants in Europe’.

Within five weeks of the fire, Alexir had re-located to new premises at Edenbridge in Kent, whithin easy access of the M25. The 40,000ft2 purpose-built factory is approximately 33% larger than the previous Crawley facility. New machinery being installed includes Fuji prepress, Komori print, Bobst cutting and creasing, and Kohmann windowing.

Alexir Chairman Robert Davison says: “After what has been a difficult couple of months for the business, our new premises will provide increased capacity and the advanced machinery we have invested in will certainly benefit our customers.

“We couldn’t have had such a smooth transition to these new premises without the commitment of our employees. I am also grateful to our customers and to competitors, to whom we have outsourced over £1.5 million of business, for their support. “
