Narrow web digital UV colour printer

27 May 2009

A new full colour UV printer for narrow format applications, the Gamma 70 has been developed by Atlantic Zeiser in partnership with Xaar. A “major producer in the label industry” has already installed the system, which has a print width of 70.5 mm.

Combining Xaar printheads with Atlantic Zeiser controller and data preparation software, the Gamma 70 is said to be ideally suited for traditional markets such as packaging and labeling, commercial print, in-plant printing of consumer goods, security print and card manufacturing. It is also designed for label printing and industrial product identification on substrates beyond the usual paper and board materials.

When mounted on an Atlantic Zeiser Persoline ID card production system, the print module is said to be capable of producing up to 6,000 full colour personalized cards an hour.

The Gamma 70 is available in two models: one for wet-on-wet printing in the pattern application process; and the premium version suited for both pinning and wet-on-wet for sharp texts, bar codes, pictures and fine details, and logotypes.

The new printer can be supplied as a stand-alone system for custom integration into web and sheet-fed operations, or as a module within the Persoline system. It will print on a wide variety of porous and non-porous materials, such as plastics cards and films, metallic foils, board and paper.
