Narrow benefits gravure

4 November 2002

A new DCM 10 colour Biva 4 gravure press now in operation in a German converting plant is designed to ensure high productivity by keeping the downtime between runs to a minimum.

Although it can print widths up to 800mm, the machine is said to feature all the advantages of DCM's 'narrow concept'. The engraved cylinder shaft remains cantilevered while the cylinder is transferred from a trolley in or out through the side frame. The sleeve type impression roller also slides out without the need to remove the sleeve mandrel. The operator is also said to have good access to the ink tank and the pump located at the bottom of each print unit.

Two DCM narrow web gravure presses were already installed In the German plant, which is also equipped with Laminastar solventless laminators and Super Lynx slitters from the French manufacturer.
