The US MWV Corp has invested in a new Heidelberg offset press for its largest European folding carton plant in Graz, Austria. The Speedmaster XL 106-10 LYYL (X3 ) UV HD Log.Plus (75 x 106cm) has a length of 30.6m, making it Austria's longest 3b press with double-coater.
Together with additional diecutting and hotfoil stamping equipment, the investment totals around €5 million.
The new Speedmaster XL is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to reduce setup times and increase productivity; top print quality and highest ergonomic standards are also claimed by Heidelberg. The high productivity is achieved by the "perfect interaction" between the Prinect Press Center press control system, the Preset Plus feeder and the Autoplate XL automatic simultaneous plate changing device. The press is built on an 875mm high foundation with full UV configuration.
"This is definitely another milestone in our development," MWV Graz managing director Peter Szabó. "This press strengthens our capabilities in Graz and allows us to grow."
