German label converter Rolf Ritter recently expanded its production capacity with the installation of its fourth MPS UV flexo press, an EF 410 model. The new press, which has 10 flexo and one screen printing units, is also being used to expand the technical possibilities for cost effective manufacture of special products. For this reason it has been equipped with an in-register laminator that enables production of ‘multi web’ applications such as multilayer labels.
Rolf Ritter has many years of experience with these products, for which there is a strong demand. One current growth area is duplex labels, used in many different areas. The requirements for multilayered label constructions are therefore equally complex, for example in terms of the bonds or the properties of the adhesive. Such products – which contain such features as glue-free areas, adhesive spots or perforations, or which allow easy opening and resealing – will now be produced more efficiently using the new machine’s in-register laminator.
The new EF 410 is equipped with a screen printing unit, which can be variably positioned using a track system. An important basis for the high degree of flexibility of machine designs is servo drive technology.
