More bags from Mondi

5 August 2008

Mondi Frantschach has inaugurated a Bag Application Centre (BAC) to undertake packaging technology research at its R&D Innovation Centre site in Austria. The existing facility covers paper manufacturing and processing requirements.

Using state of the art analysis procedures and the many years of extensive production know-how of Mondi’s more than 40 bag converting plants, the BAC laboratory will simulate specific bag applications for customers. A series of tests will be used to analyse the essential properties of industrial bags, from de-aeration behaviour during filling to storability of the contents under different climatic conditions, as well as drop tests to detect possible weak areas of the filled bag.

Staffed by 20 highly qualified research associates, the R&D and the BAC centres at Frantschach can now assist the entire development process “from wood fibres to industrial bags”.
