Modular system gives greater flexibility

27 November 2009

Nexus Comexi has introduced a multi-functional laminator designed to produce duplex, triplex and multi-layer structures of high added value at high speeds.

Modularity is said to allow the new Optmia line to produce widely different products for a variety of markets. Apart from its ‘tremendous production capacity’, easy handling and user friendliness for the operators are also promised by the Spanish manufacturer.

The coating unit offers maximum flexibility by means of an interchangeable trolley system for gravure, flexo, semi-flexo, PVdC applications and solvent-less, as well as coldseal and single-colour printing. For solvent-less applications, a special trolley with independent motors for each roller allows use of all types of adhesives.

High drying capacity is claimed, with each drying module totally independent from the others, and able to be switched on/off according to the product used and speed required. The number of modules can be according to the user’s requirements. The dryers have a powerful blowing and high turbulence capacity to eliminate solvent/water content, as well as a recirculation system to cut energy costs. Any power source (thermal oil, gas burner, hot steam, electrical) can be adapted to the machine, says Nexus Comexi.

Other modular options are EB/UV curing systems, or a slitting system for special products. It is also possible to upgrade a duplex Optima to a triplex machine or multi-layer structures with combinations of different trolleys and more drying modules.
