MMP makes microflute move

4 September 2001

The Schilling facility manufactures packaging for multinational detergent producers and specializes in the plastics coating of cartonboard, as well as in microflute products. The company annually converts more than 10,000t of cartonboard. Its sales total approximately €23M.

The acquisition strengthens MMP's competitive position as a European supplier of detergent packaging and gives it a microflute production facility in the core German market. Offset printed microflute has established itself as an important packaging material for household, telecom and entertainment electronic products as well as for displays. Demand has been increasing annually by five to seven per cent.

MMP intends to focus more intensively on this market. In addition to the Schilling purchase, it has invested in existing facilities – in Germany, the UK, Austria, Poland, and Romania - to produce microflute products on a Europe-wide basis.
