Meeting colour challenges

15 October 2008

At Graph Expo, this month, X-Rite will demonstrate “the industry’s first” complete optical brightener compensation module (OBC) designed to solve proof and print colour matching challenges caused by the use of optical brighteners in paper stock. Used in conjunction with the company’s i1iSis family of automatic spectral chart readers, the OBC allows users to correct colour shifts caused by optical brightening agents in most substrates.

The company will also demonstrate version 1.5 of the IntelliTrax automated scanning system for press-side colour control. The new version supports the G7 proof-to-print process control, ISO, and CxF, the next generation file format for colour communication.

IntelliTrax automatically scans the colour bar of a typical press sheet “in seconds” and shows the results on-screen, allowing press operators to make quick adjustments.

Visitors to the X-Rite booth will also be able to see version 2.0 of the vipPAQ in-line colour density measuring system for flexo and gravure. VipPAQ is claimed to be able to control the optical density of any spot colour.
