Measuring pressure

26 January 2004

A new thin sensor film, by changing colour, reveals stress distribution and magnitude between any two surfaces that come in contact. The intensity of the resultant colour is quantifiable and enables the user to determine precisely what the PSI is at any point on the contacting surfaces.

The film, from US company Sensor Products, can be used to measure roller nip pressure, verify and record pressure distribution during equipment set-up, in preventive maintenance, in package drop tests, and for measuring interface pressure during ultrasonic welding.
