Maxson is expanding

11 January 2008

US manufacturer of high speed precision sheeters Maxson Automatic Machinery has announced a multi million dollar expansion at its Westerly, Rhode Island, site that will include additional office and production facilities for greater capacity and CNC machine tools to boost productivity.

A 50,000ft2 facility will house fabrication, plasma cutting, metal forming, painting and assembly operations with associated engineering design and support staff. The building is scheduled to be in production by the third quarter of 2008.

Maxson’s president, Joseph Matthews says: “With the market’s enthusiastic acceptance of our sheeters over the past few years, we enter 2008 with a healthy backlog. Although international sales have become our fastest growing market segment, overall business has increased so significantly that we require additional floor space to service our growing customer base.

“Investing in state-of-the-art machinery reduces manufacturing time and improves delivery schedules. Working with the state government, we are training new employees and upgrading our existing staff to be flexible, competent in multiple skills, and educated in new technology thereby maintaining a lean work force.
