Martin Automatic

10 December 2012

The installation of a second Martin Automatic MBX butt splicer at Nampak Liquid Packaging’s plant at Isithebe, in KwaZulu-Natal, has significantly boosted productivity on the company’s 4-colour Windmöller & Hölscher gravure press, allowing it to run non-stop at 250m/min producing gable-top cartons. The new splicer will handle an 840mm web width on rolls up to 1,830mm in diameter, is fitted with an inertia-compensated festoon system, a splice unit that provides a diagonal butt splice, and a two-position cantilevered unwind with Martin’s lift-an-load system.
