Making Radcure

6 October 2003

Surface Specialties, one of the two main activities of UCB, has acquired 225 acres of land in St-Ghislain, Belgium, to build a €25M plant to produce Radcure UV/EBC beam curable resins. The facility should be operational in 2006, with an annual production capacity of 30,000t of Radcure monomers. It will employ 50 people.

Radcure resins are used in inks and varnishes. The technology's absence of solvents plus energy savings are said to make it a "totally environmentally friendly process".
