Making many plates

21 October 2003

Screen says its new PlateRite 8800 thermal platesetter for the high volume B1 market can image over 30 plates/hour at 2,400 dpi. It uses Grating Light Valve imaging technology, which diffracts high power laser light to provide a high speed, "ultra precise" method of transferring digital images directly onto a printing plate.

The PlateRite 8800 images plates ranging from GTO format (450 x 370mm) to B1 format (1,160 x 940mm). The SA-L 8800 single cassette autoloader holds up to 100 plates to completely automate plate loading, and the MA-L 8800 multi cassette autoloader has a maximum of five cassettes providing a capacity of up to 500 plates of five different sizes available to the platesetter without operator intervention.
