In the UK, Smurfit Kappa's Yate, plant is to benefit from a new 6-colour flexo, rotary diecut press, an enhanced material handling system and corrugator upgrades.
The new press (supplier not evealed) is part of the company's continuing development of its High-Quality Post Print (HQPP) service at the BRC and AIB certified site, which supplies a wide range of customers in the south of England, as well as major national brands and pan-European customers.
As part of the development process, John Wroot has moved to become operations director at Yate from Smurfit Kappa's Chelmsford plant.
Upgrading the plant's material handling system will give greater accuracy and reliability which, combined with modular enhancements on the corrugator, will drive additional improvements in quality and service at the high volume site.
