M-real gears paper to gravure

14 July 2006

Simcastor Flex, a new flexible packaging paper, has been especially developed by M-real for rotogravure printing. The one-side coated supercalendered bleached kraft paper is said to have excellent functional and visual properties – and to perform reliably in production.

Simcastor Flex is approved for food packaging (Bfr, FDA) and manufactured according to HACCP hygiene standards. This makes it suitable for use with dry foods and beverages, crispbread, chocolate and confectionery, petfoods, cigarettes, and pharmaceutical and healthcare products. Extra stiffness needed, for example, in yoghurt banderols is available in the Simcastor Flex ES grade.

Simcastor Label and Simcastor Base have also been renewed. Simcastor Label, with improved whiteness, is said to offer good printability in offset, as well as smooth processing and labelling. Simcastor Base, now with improved brightness and bulk, provides excellent runnability and good lay-flat properties, as well as good printability on the reverse side, according to M-real.

Simcastor Plus, which has remained unchanged, is said to provide the outstanding runnability and good printability required in flexible packaging.
