LumiLiner makes more of less

19 January 2012

Stora Enso has developed a new liner in close collaboration with producers of boxes and corrugated packaging. With a basis weight of 90 g/m², the “extremely tear-resistant” LumiLiner is said to combine the softness of lightweight paper with the bulk and tear resistance of significantly higher weight paper.

LumiLiner is a white, one-side coated paper produced at Stora Enso’s Uetersen mill in Germany. Outstanding flatness, excellent smoothness and good ink holdout are among the features claimed, and it is said to support vibrant graphics in corrugated board postprint and preprinting by offset and flexo

A special feature of the new liner is its “adhesion-friendly” reverse side. This permits economical application of adhesive and fast drying to help speed up automated lamination processes, as well as preventing the adhesive from penetrating the material - which supports the flatness of the final product.
