‘Lower cost’ label press from MPS

17 March 2014

The new EB flexo press from MPS is claimed to combine several "unique features" while providing a lower cost investment.

Technical director and company co-founder Bert van den Brink comments: "To complement the EF and EXL series in our range that offer extended levels of automation, we saw a market need to develop a press for label printers that also delivers high performance MPS technology but at a much lower level investment".

Among its special features, the press has Solid Lock technology to automatically position the print cylinder into the print head, independently from its repeat size. The plate cylinder position relative to the anilox and impression cylinder is automatically set to "optimum print standards". Print pressure or setting corrections do not influence the print quality, says MPS.

Another novelty is iSet Intelligent pressure settings in the printhead, based on the principle that required print pressures will not influence each other. The settings between the print and anilox impression roller can be set together or individually, without the need to re-set or adjust previous settings.

The EB press also features Crisp.Dot Light technology. There is no gear connection between the impression cylinder and print cylinder, so substrate thickness and print cylinder pressure settings are not affected by gear profiles. This is said to guarantee predictable high quality label printing, including the printing of vignettes and solids.
