Look into labels' future

14 November 2003

A European Label Summit to assess label opportunities in the enlarged EU will be held next year by Labelexpo show organizer Tarsus. The two-day conference in Düsseldorf, on October 28-29, will review the impact of the proposed entry of 10 new countries (predominately from Central and Eastern Europe) into the EU in 2004. It will assess the arising implications for expanded EU trade and business, and look at the role of brand owners and major retail groups in the wider European market.

The expanded EU is expected to bring a period of sustained growth to the label market. Current self adhesive label industry growth in countries such as Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic already exceeds 20 per cent/year - and annual growth of all label technologies in the region is around 8 per cent. The new conference is intended to help the industry develop its strategy for a long term and profitable future.

Tarsus has also launched the annual Labelexpo Industry Awards. The inaugural ceremony and gala dinner will be held on September 13, 2004, during Labelexpo Americas 2004.
