Link-up to boost packaging print colour quality

26 November 2004

MY PrinTech is to integrate its PrinTech FMsix technology with the InkWizard component of the Esko-Graphics Scope workflow. Both companies will support this integrated technology solution offering "optimized colour quality and consistency of packaging printing".

InkWizard is a module within PackEdge, the application in the Esko-Graphics Scope workflow, which covers a wide range of packaging pre-production functions: job and product specification, graphic and structural design, expert pre-production operations, platemaking for printing and toolmaking for converting. Converting jobs to any target colour space and supports both off-the-shelf and custom colour sets, it is said to guarantee editability and flexibility before and after converting to the multi colour process set.

FMsix uses a special reproduction technology to improve colour quality whilst reducing production cost significantly, it is claimed. Built on a six colour printing process for offset, it uses an algorithm which applies FM Screening to deliver a claimed significantly extended colour gamut.

"This co-operation will allow packaging designers and printers to obtain a smooth integration of the FMsix conversion process in the standard workflow whilst preparing files for printing," comments Geert De Proost, marketing manager FlexRip at Esko-Graphics. "Our solution offers an 'error proof' system of conversion that limits the operator intervention to the absolute minimum but still allowing for manual intervention when needed."
