Learning the latest about labelling

5 November 2004

Participants from every level of the value chain met in Amsterdam from October 6-8 for DecTec 04 – the labelling technology conference organized by AWA Conferences. The event covered topics ranging from self adhesive and in-mould labels to sleeving and direct print, flexible packaging, and boards.

The programme, with presentations from industry experts and executives, gave delegates the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in every relevant discipline – from design and premedia through to substrates, printing and converting, inks, and end user sourcing of product decoration and labelling.

Palle Jespersen, marketing director, roll materials world wide for Avery Dennison, commented: "To stay ahead of the game, it is critical to understand new trends and growth drivers. The conference clearly gave such new impulses". Niklas Olsson, global brand manager for the Narrow Web Division of ANI Printing Inks, summed up the event as "excellent for networking, growing the business, and keeping the industry updated". He added: "This year's programme was extremely well balanced, and the papers were very informative, across a broad range of topics and right through the value chain."

Next year will see two DecTec events. The DecTec 05 Label and Labelling Conference Asia, will be held in Guangzhou, China, July 13-15, alongside China Label 2005. Following the success of AWA's Latin American conference in 2004, DecTec 05 Label and Labelling Conference Americas, will again be held in Mexico City, on September 28-30, 2005.
