Laser label stands heat

Herma has developed a PE label film with a UV-acrylate adhesive said to adhere reliably even at a temperature of 180degC. Of particular interest for labels used in hot filling, for example, with chemicals, it is also claimed to be the first PE material suitable for laser printing.

Herma says tests with printers from "well known manufacturers" have shown that the PE-Laser material achieves good results both with black and white, and colour laser printing. For the user this is said to mean the highest possible level of reliability, lower stock levels, and great flexibility. As an additional service, the production width of the adhesive material can be made to suit the production of A4 sheets, the size most commonly used for laser printers .

According to the company, this material combines "unbeatable" heat resistance, with the ability to withstand aggressive solvents and other chemicals. It is also "currently the only one that will reliably adhere to PE drums", and meets the stringent definition for seawater resistance laid down in BS 5609.
