Sicpa is to market a range of inks produced from UK based Sherwood Technology's patent specified colour-change chemistry - DataLase, the infinite coding, marking and printing solution - through a non exclusive supply licence agreement. The agreement will enable the Swiss based company to make DataLase branded inks available globally, as part of a total printing and marking solution to a wide range of market sectors including labels, tobacco applications, flexible packaging, paper and board packaging.
"We have had a successful working relationship with Sherwood Technology over the past two years on a mutual co-operation basis" comments Peter Hilpert, Sicpa-Aarberg managing director. "This agreement enables us to combine the DataLase marking chemistry with our specialized ink making technology and global infrastructure to offer a total coding and marking service to our clients." Sherwood managing director Steve Kelly adds: "Sicpa has the expertise and knowledge in the inks and printing markets to help make DataLase available to a wider market."
DataLase uses low power laser light for high speed printing of images. It is said to offer a precise, non contact alternative to traditional printing methods, "providing an infinite array of solutions", for example date coding, bar coding and graphics. It is also claimed to be equally suitable for metal decoration, flexible packaging, paper, board and plastics.
