Lancashire likes Bobst

UK packaging manufacturer Lancashire Board and Paper has ordered a Bobst SPO160-Vision die cutter to replace a 40-year-old SPO-1575 which the company bought second-hand. "We've had good service out of the 1575" explains board director Steve Slattery, "but we needed to improve productivity to keep our edge in an increasingly competitive market. Our customers come to us for heavy solid board products, as well as the usual B and C-flute corrugated, and the Vision can handle the whole range. It's also compatible with all our existing tooling – which is very important."

The SPO160-Vision is designed to die cut corrugated board up to double wall and to handle solid board down to 600 micron thick. Bobst claims the machine's price-performance ratio is the best in its class due to a production speed reaching 4,500 sheets/hour and the ability to change over in just a few minutes. Three variants are available: without stripping; with only external waste stripping; and with 100 per cent waste stripping using dedicated tools.
