An Edale Lambda narrow web converting system has been installed at the CTEL technology centre in Navarra, Spain, to investigate new possibilities in printing and converting.
CTEL operates under the umbrella of Cetena, a non-profit organisation and CEMITEC – the Centre of Multidisciplinary Innovation and Technology Foundation, specialising in printed intelligence for the food, renewable energy and health sectors. As the Edale machine will be used as a development line, it has been set up for product trials rather than mass production.
The Lambda is promoted as an ‘infinitely flexible converting solution’, allowing the user to change the sequence of any modules or the position of any idler and winder, to suit almost any process or web path configuration.
CTEL’s machine has gravure printing equipment (forward and reverse), rotary screen and flexo, as well as incorporating drying systems, UV and corona treatment. It is capable of processing webs up to 330mm wide at speeds of 150m/min. Two separate areas allow for processing solvent-based and non-solvent-based inks.
