Label Summit heads East

10 February 2004

The venue for the European Label Summit has been switched from Düsseldorf to Prague, on October 27-28, 2004. Organizer Labelexpo says it has moved the event to the Czech Republic in response to feedback showing that, with most labelling events taking place in the West, "there is a desire to do business in Eastern Europe".

'Growth opportunities in the enlarged European Union' will be the theme, and the event will involve a full conference programme, breakout sessions, tabletop exhibition and a Gala Dinner. The conference will review the impact of the predominately Central and Eastern European new EU entrant countries; assess the implications for expanded EU trade and business; and look at the role of brand owners and major retail groups in the wider European market.

Fritz Beglinger, president of summit sponsor FINAT, says: "As the leading umbrella organization for the European labelling industry, we fully recognize the impact the accession of Eastern European countries into the EU will have on the market. The European Label Summit will give the industry the opportunity it needs to start building the necessary networks between Eastern and Western Europe."
