Ahlstrom has launched three new label papers said to have outstanding visual impact.
Irresistible Go Print Brio is claimed to be the world's first one-side coated wet strength and 100 per cent pearlescent label paper. "Its subtle radiance creates a completely different 'premium' look for brands, which makes it ideal for beverage, cosmetics or canned food labelling," the company states. The pearlized surface is said to be unaffected by printing and production processes.
The new Metalkote Evolution is a brilliant label base paper for metallizing, especially for the beer label market. This product is said to combine optimal performance in all bottling conditions with outstanding metallic gloss, high runnability and superior ink retention. The same paper can be used for bottle neck, body and back labels; and offset printing is super-fast, die cutting is easier, and wash-off quicker, promises Ahlstrom.
The new trio is completed by Go Print 300 MI, a specialized paper designed for printing labels with metallic inks, especially for the premium and luxury drinks markets. For improved productivity and cost efficiency, Go Print 300 MI offers a basis weight of 72g/m2 instead of the 75g/m2 traditional for this type of product. Excellent printing and labelling performance are said to be combined high gloss and whiteness to give superb gravure printing results with metallic inks. High wet opacity and wet strength, as well as alkali resistance for efficient label wash-off on returnable bottles are other characteristics flagged.
