Kiss carton a clincher

21 December 2004

MeadWestvaco's Crescendo premium, coated-one-side paperboard was used to produce the colourful box for Escada's Island Kiss limited edition perfume promotion. Irene Pertl, purchasing manager for Escada launch activities, comments: "For this kind of product, our prospective buyer must immediately see an inviting, distinctive look and a package that conveys overall quality. We were looking for a paperboard capable of showcasing a range of vibrant colours in crisp, appealing ways."

She says one valuable benefit for the Island Kiss production was Crescendo's excellent backside printability, which improved the print quality of inks used on the interior of the carton.

Société Parisienne d'Impression et de Cartonnage (La Spic), in Pontoise, France, printed the boxes on a six colour Roland 706 offset press, added security markings using Imaje technology, then acetate laminated and hot stamped them with blue and pink tones on a Bobst 102 BMA. A Bobst die cutter and Jagenberg Diane 70 completed the process.
