Kemiart claims 'world first'

21 September 2006

The M-real Kemiart Liners mill in Kemi, Finland, has completed installation of what is said to be the world’s first ValFormer forming section for board making applications.

“We can already confirm considerable improvements in formation, resulting in the enhanced printability of Kemiart liners,” says Juha Lounasvaara, vice president, corrugated case materials. “Furthermore, this investment will enable better capacity utilization, especially with higher basis weights. Kemiart Liners’ production capacity will gradually increase to 360,000t/year. The investment is an important continuation of our strategic development programme to improve product quality and to increase the production and sales of high quality coated white top kraftliners.”

Kemiart’s previous investments in the coating unit and coating colour circulation were completed last year. The company’ says this development programme will strengthen its worldwide position as the leading supplier of high performance coated linerboards for corrugated consumer and retail packaging.
