HarperScientific.com, a division of Harper Corp of America, has introduced CeramClean 11, an anilox roll cleaner for printers using water and UV based inks. Testing has proved the product will clean and unplug ink filled cells in laser engraved ceramic anilox rolls without damaging the integrity of the cell, claims the company.
Developed in conjunction with research chemists, the cleaner will agitate dried ink pigment through the use of proprietary soft scrubbing micro grit particles. Tests have shown that the cleaner can also be used successfully on chrome engraved and gravure cylinders, it adds. Reports Art Fields, instructor Flexographic Trade School in Charlotte, NC, where one test was run: "This cleaner is by far the best I have ever used. It's fast, easy and in minutes, you have a roll that is like new."
Added benefits are said to be an easy to use applicator bottle and reduction of ink waste due to restoration of engraving volumes. It cleans laser engraved ceramic anilox rolls and aids in the removal of tough surface stains, it cleans ceramic, engraved chrome and gravure cylinders, and it washes clean with water. It is also said to increase the life of anilox rolls. In addition, claims Harper, it allows for longer print runs, reduced downtime due to less frequent cleaning and consistent ink films from maximized volumes from anilox rolls.
