KBA's new production hall

17 August 2006

This year KBA is investing over €40M in new equipment, plant and buildings at its production sites in Germany and abroad. Biggest project, part of an on-going upgrade of the Würzburg plant, is the reconstruction of the large component production hall.

Over the last few months, with production continuing underneath, a new roof was erected above the 220m central section and the existing roof removed to raise the height from 11m to 16m. This was followed by the installation of five roof cranes, each capable of lifting 20t.

At the topping-out ceremony on August 8, executive vice president of production Dr Frank Junker said this major investment “will deliver substantial efficiency gains in the manufacture and quality assurance of major components such as side frames for printing units and folders”.

Completion of the new 6,000m2 hall is scheduled for the end of the year.
