A large format KBA sheet-fed press is to lead expansion plans by UK based Offset Productions and Cavendish Packaging to expand their shares of the packaging market.
OPL, based in Aylesford, and Cavendish, a carton printer at Crawley, are to enter into a joint venture next year at the centre of which will be an investment programme that includes the acquisition of a six colour KBA Rapida 142.
OPL has been a KBA house for six years, operating two multi unit Rapida 105s. A seven colour perfector will remain, but a six colour will make way for the new 142 machine.
Frank Wallis, managing director of Cavendish, says: “The total investment programme will include cutting and creasing, litho lamination and gluing facilities”. To supplement the investment, OPL Digital, based at the Aylesford site, will be upgrading its prepress, including CTP.
OPL managing director Hugh Jarvis says: “The aim of the joint venture and the capital investment is to build on the 38 years of experience OPL has gained in the packaging industry".
