Italian innovation

24 October 2005

At LabelExpo, Franchini&C launched the Galileo – "the first ever Italian full rotary offset press for labels".

Billed as sturdy and reliable, the new press is available with a large number of optional modules (including hot and cold foil stamping, variable data, UV flexo varnish, rotary silkscreen), allowing configuration according to immediate requirements and later customization for new applications.

Designed to make label converting fast and reliable, the versatile Galileo can print a wide range of materials, from 17 micron film to 400g board for light packaging. A cassette system enables offset to be easily replaced with letterpress or flexo printing and hot foil stamping.

The press can be configured for conventional water offset and Toray water offset, which are fully interchangeable and can be used in combination in the same press. This system is also claimed to minimize set-up costs and waste, in that the web need not be broken when changing the cassette.

In addition, a highly precise register control given by the servo motors on each unit is said to maximize productivity, reaching a maximum speed of 150m/min. A range of web widths is available to suit most applications.
