Investment in Innovation Reaps Rewards for Graphic Packaging
Since officially opening its doors in July 2015, Graphic Packaging International's Global Innovation Centre in Bardon, Leicestershire, has taken the company's customer experience to a new level of excellence, firmly placing GPI at the cutting edge of the packaging industry.
The Global Innovation Centre (GIC) is an inspirational hub for GPI's Product Packaging Design Teams to work on innovative projects for Food, Beverage and Convenience sectors. The £500,000 investment at the Bardon site was conceived as being forward-thinking not just in terms of the buildings and state of the art equipment, but also to give the brightest people working in the industry the space and tools that allow their creativity to flourish.
In this first 6 months of operation, GIC has hosted 50 customer visits from across these three business units, making the most of GPI's design prototype service. To date, 30000 samples have been cut on our new Zund plotters and over 2500 colour mock ups have been produced on our new Roland digital UV printer.
Marketing Manager Nikki Clark commented, "There's no doubt that the investment in the centre, new machinery and new team has been an outstanding success, with all elements working exceptionally well to give our customers the best possible results, which in turn is helping us to be even more creative when conceiving innovative packaging solutions.
"With the development of our market research resources, we can now fully understand the market sector, shopper demographic and shopper mission for each of our customer's products - and can even offer in-house consumer testing to find out first hand how consumers react to new pack designs."
