InteliCoat sells films business

7 August 2007

North American flexible packaging converter Exopack Holding has acquired InteliCoat’s Electronic and Engineered Films business unit for an undisclosed sum. Both companies are affiliates of private investment firm Sun Capital Partners.

The acquisition will provide Exopack with its first owned and managed facility in Europe, as well as a gateway into new markets.

Joe Lupone president and ceo of InteliCoat, stated: “The sale will allow us to focus on our core competencies - the global product development, manufacturing, and marketing of digital imaging media; and expand our investment in new product development, and pursue new opportunities globally in this growing market.”

This new acquisition will be renamed Exopack Advanced Coatings and will maintain its operations in Matthews, North Carolina, and North Wales, in the UK. They will continue to develop and manufacture coated and laminated substrates for a wide range of products.

Alan Parker, formerly managing director of European operations for InteliCoat, has been named as vice president and general manager for Exopack Advanced Coatings. He will continue to work out of the North Wales facility.
