Sibress has introduced a small instrument for measuring sleeves, plates, metal backed plates, film, and print. The E3 is equipped with a 3.3 megapixel CCD colour camera and integrated LED illumination that enables the user to work without a light table.
For sleeves, the instrument uses a special adaptor ring to measure a field of view of 7m2. When measuring normal plates or film, an integrated optical viewfinder places the instrument exactly on the area of interest. Manual focusing in the live video mode makes precise measurement even faster, it is claimed. The E3 enables the user to measure highlight and shadow. With sleeves it measures the critical highlights from 1-10 per cent. Bar code reading can also be performed. An optional stripholder enables the user to measure the flanks of cut flexo plates as well as their thickness.
A USB-2 allows connection to a notebook or PC and the software runs under Windows XP and 2000.
