Improving narrow web UV flexo

11 June 2009

SolarFlex Nova is a new ink from Sun Chemical for the narrow web market and suitable for a variety of flexo press models. It joins the Solaris System range of inks, coatings and services dedicated to narrow web printing.

Benefits claimed for SolarFlex Nova include quick makeready, efficient printing and easy print finishing. To provide the exact amount of ink for a given job, an advanced ink management system works together with the associated colour tools and the Solaris ColourSat dispenser.

On the press, the new ink is said to have optimised cure, and consistent quality at the highest speeds. Enhanced hold-out and adhesion allow fewer problems associated with 'difficult' substrates, whilst high colour strength permits the use of finer aniloxes, says Sun Chemical.

In addition, the silicone-free formulation is said to provide the receptivity required for varnishing, foil blocking and variable image printing.
