Improved release coating

26 September 2005

According to GE Bayer Silicones, its new SL6161 High Performance (HP) thermal solventless release coating technology helps to improve productivity. Initially designed for glassine and PE kraft papers, where the cost saving will be more significant, it can also be used for kraft, polyolefins and heavy paper by adjusting the level of catalyst accordingly and/or selecting the right cross-linker.

A special cross-linker, SL4330, has been developed to ensure a good curing and anchorage of this new adhesion promoter for polyester films. In combination with GE's Anchorsil 2000 adhesion promoter, it is claimed to provide an excellent thermal solventless release coating for untreated PET films.

SL6161 can also be used with the company's standard commercial grades: SL6600, SL6625 or SL3832, as an additive.
