Improved digital laser workflow

26 May 2008

The result of two years of development, AB Graphic’s ‘all new’ Omega sabre eXtreme digital laser workflow system is said to permit non-stop label cutting from electronic file download to finished product.

The sabre eXtreme provides an electronic converting system for digitally printed webs that is said to eliminate the need for expensive rotary tooling that can often delay the converting operation. Set-up times and waste are reduced through instant makeready, and the need to lift and store heavy magnetic cylinders and dies in the workplace is eliminated.

Tony Bell, ABG’s sales director, comments: “Software and hardware technology has changed since the launch of our first laser system and we have made a number of up-grades to sabre eXtreme that enhance performance and operation. They include a new user friendly operator interface, faster operating speed and enhanced cutting accuracy.”

Job change-over is now faster, as the next job can now be loaded while the current job is running. Larger die cut patterns can be loaded plus static pattern cutting for testing small lot material samples. Technical improvements are said to include greater calibration accuracy, greater tension control and better calibration of material files.
