ICE launch for improved reel trucks

4 November 2009

The Reel & Shaft Handling Co (RaSHCo) has designed a new reel handling stacker truck for transporting reels of all diameters safely. To be launched at ICE Europe (November 24-26) on stand 1-R09, the LV truck has a ‘V’ shaped cradle to hold the reel secure, then tilts to form an ‘L’ shape when loading/unloading.

RaSHCo claims this innovative design rectifies a common problem found with many trolleys when transporting small diameter reels: most have a fixed, profiled reel cradle or a pivoting lip at the front that holds large diameter reels when raised; however, smaller diameter reels are free to roll around, even off the cradle if it is stopped suddenly.

The new ‘V’ shaped cradle is said to hold the reel securely, no matter what the diameter. A hydraulic actuator tilts it forward to allow loading and off-loading to pallet level.

There are several models in the LV range, from a 500kg manual version to a 1,500kg all-electric unit. Customised versions are also available, also a four-way design for narrow aisle applications.
