IBAW becomes ‘European Bioplastics’

15 May 2006

IBAW, the association representing European companies engaged in the manufacture, application or recycling of bioplastic products, has changed its name to ‘European Bioplastics’.

The term "bioplastic" is used by the association to designate biodegradable polymers that comply with EN standard 13432 and for non biodegradable polymers based on agricultural feedstocks. The increased use of renewable raw materials as a replacement of fossil resources is an important goal of the organization. It promotes the development, production, commercialization and recovery of bioplastics “to contribute to sustainable development and a closed loop economy”.
